Welcome to Vardhman's "Off the Beaten Trail"!
On arrival in Leh, you will be met and transferred by Vardhman's representative
to your hotel. Full day rest to acclimatize yourself. Evening go for a brisk
walk to stretch your body.

Day 2: Leh
Today proceed on a half day city tour of Leh. Explore Spituk and Phyang gompas.
Spituk Monastery: The Spituk Monastery of Ladakh is situated at a distance
of approximately 8 km from the town of Leh. Towering over a conical, the 3-chapel
monastery dates back to the 11th century, when it was founded century by Od-de,
the elder brother of Lha Lama Changchub Od. He was the one to introduce a
monastic community here. When a translator, Rinchen Zangpo, came to this place,
he said that an exemplary religious community would develop there. This statement
led to the naming of the monastery as Spituk, meaning Exemplary.
Phiyang Gompa : 17 Kms from Leh on the Leh-Kargil road, it looks like a huge
palace from afar, build by Tashi Namgyal in the later half of the 16th century
AD, it belongs to the Red Cap sect of Buddhists. Hundreds of icon of Buddha
and other gods are kept on wooden shelves.
Later in the evening drive back to Leh for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Leh - Phiyang - Taroo Phu
This morning after breakfast drive to visit Phiyang Monastery. Reach there
and start trek to Taroo Phu. Upon arrival, check into your camp.
Phiyang Gompa : 17 Kms from Leh on the Leh-Kargil road, it looks like a huge

Day 4: Taroo - Umla
Trek 4-5 Hrs
This morning after a leisurely breakfast start trek to Umla, a nice camping
place. Overnight stay in camp.

Day 5: Umla - Nimoo Phu
Trek 4-5 Hrs
Overnight: Camp
Day 6: Nimoo - Basgo
Trek 4-5 Hrs
Overnight: Camp
Day 7: Basgo - Likir
Trek 4-5 Hrs
Overnight: Camp
Day 8: Likir - Pobela- Yangthang
Trek 4-5 Hrs
On the day 6 of your tour start trek over over Pobe La (3,550 m above sea
level) (3,550 m above sea level) to reach Yangthang. Reach Yangthang and check
into your Camp for an overnight rest.

Day 9: Yangthang
Day excursion trek to Rizong 4-5 Hrs
This morning after breakfast trek to Rizong gompa and then after visiting
Rizong Monastery trek back to Yangthang for an overnight rest.
Rizong Monastery: Situated at a distance of approximately 73 km from the town
of Leh. Built by the great Lama Tsultim Nima, it dates back to the year 1831.
Approximately 40 monks reside in the Rizong Gompa of Ladakh, which belongs
to the Tsongkhapa Order. The successive reincarnations of Lama Tsultim Nima
and his son, Sras Rinpoche, serve as the incumbents of the monastery. The
inmates of the Rizdong Monastery of Leh Ladakh are permitted to have only
religious robes and books with them.

Day 10: Yangthang - Sarmanchen la 3750 Mt - Hemis Shukpachan
Trek 5-6 Hrs
This morning after breakfast trek over Sermanchan la (3,750 m above sea level)
and Lago la (3,750 m above sea level), to reach Ang. Reach Ang and check into
your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 11: Hemis - Mebtakla 3700 Mt - Ang - Tingmogang
Trek 5-6 Hrs
Morning after breakfast drive Tingmogang village. Enroute visit at Mebtakla.
Arrive Tingmogang by afternoon and chekcin at your camp. Realax for a while
and later visit Nunnery school, the great fortified Tingmogang Palace and
the Chamba monastery. It was once the capital of western Ladakh.
Overnight: Camp
Day 12: Tingmogang -Alchi- Leh
After breakfast drive back to Leh. On the way visit Alchi Monastery (11th
century).
Alchi Gompa : 70 Kms from Leh, on the banks of the Indus, is the Alchi Gompa
dating a thousand years back. One of its walls features thousands of miniature
sized pictures of the Buddha. Three large sized images made of clay and painted
brightly are its focal attractions. No longer an active religious center,
it is looked after by monks from the Liker monastery. This is the only monastery
amongst 34 monasteries, which is not located on a hilltop.
Upon arrival in Leh check into your hotel for an overnight rest.

Day 13: Leh
This morning after a lesiurely breakfast drive back to Leh. Upon arrival,
check into your hotel. Rest of the day free for relax, go shopping, in the
evening see cultural show of Ladakhi songs and dances.

Day 14: Leh - Delhi
This morning after a leisurely breakfast transfer to Leh aiport to catch flight
for Delhi. On arrival at Delhi domestic airport transfer to Delhi International
airport (through Shuttle services available free of cost at the airport) to
board the flight for your onward journey to back home with sweet and pleasant
memories of your "Off the Beaten Trail" escorted by Vardhman Vacations.
